The Apostle John really knew Jesus. Not only did John watch the crucifixion of his Master, but he spent time with the risen Jesus following the resurrection. He then had decades of being ministered to by the Holy Spirit. And as he writes his First Letter, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he declares;
“Jesus Christ is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2).
The statement is quite clear. Yet down through the centuries, it has been interpreted in ways that limit the scope of what Jesus achieved on the Cross. It is critically important that we get right what Jesus did on the Cross. Because our theology will manifest itself in how we view God and go about His mission. Getting the Cross ‘right’ is one of the keys to enjoying a supercharged life.
